Dr. Pike is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dallas, Parkland Memorial Hospital. He practiced gastroenterology in Virginia Beach, Virginia from1983-2012. Dr. Pike has served on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Beach Medical Society as well as serving the society in a term as President. Dr. Pike has chaired committees, special interest groups and task forces for the American College of Gastroenterology (“ACG”) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (“ASGE”). He currently is a Trustee of the ACG. Dr. Pike also has twelve years of experience as a physician executive with Sentara Health Care in southeastern Virginia. Dr. Pike is the Chief Medical Officer for John Muir Health in Northern California.
Dr. Deas is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine (1981) and Gastroenterology (1989). He is a native of Homer, Louisiana, and began his medical practice in Fort Worth after serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel in 1991. His received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Baylor University, graduating cum laude in 1970 followed by a Master of Science in Chemistry from Baylor in 1971. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Deas received his undergraduate medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport graduating with honors in 1978. Dr. Deas’ postgraduate medical training at Wilford Hall U.S. Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio included an internal medicine residency between 1978 and 1981 and gastroenterology fellowship between 1986-1988. He completed a Master in Medical Management degree from University Texas Dallas School of Business in 2001.
Dr. Deas is a Fellow of the ACG and ASGE. He served as the Chairman of the ASGE Practice Management Committee and as a member of the ASGE Executive Board. He is currently ASGE President Elect and will serve as President May 2012-13. Dr. Deas serves as the Medical Director of the Fort Worth Endoscopy Center and the Southwest Fort Worth Endoscopy Center. He has served as President of North Texas Specialty Physicians, an independent physician associations (IPA).
Dr. Johnson is Professor of Medicine and Chief of Gastroenterology at Eastern VA School of Medicine. He attained his medical degree in 1980 from the Medical College of Virginia. He then completed his residency and fellowship training in the US Navy and was a staff gastroenterologist at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD until 1989 when he assumed his current position as a gastroenterologist in Norfolk, VA. He has published extensively in the internal medicine/gastroenterology literature contributing over 350 articles/chapters/abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and authored another 250 invited reviews. He is has been extensively involved in committees of the national GI societies, is a Past President of the American College of Gastroenterology and currently serves on the American Board of Internal Medicine (Gastroenterology) Board of Examiners. He serves as the Gastroenterology Technical Advisory chair for the National Quality Forum (NQF) and as well is a steering committee member of the quality outcomes NQF task force. He is the past co-editor of Reviews in Gastroenterologic Disorders and is the current co-editor of American College of Gastroenterology GI Education Universe, co-editor of J Medicine, GI section editor for Medscape Gastroenterology, Medscape GI Consultant Corner, as well as the esophageal section editor for Journal Watch Gastroenterology (New England Journal of Medicine). He has served the state societies and has 20 years of service with the VA GI Society.
Dr. Eisen is a staff physician at the Oregon Clinic- West Hills Gastroenterology. In addition he is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. He is the current editor in chief of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Eisen has served on the governing board of the ASGE, chaired the Standards of Practice Committee, and served on the Informatics, Public Relations Committees and the Quality Task Force. Dr. Eisen has also served as the chair of the imaging and advanced technology section for the American Gastroenterological Association (“AGA”) and has served on the Research Committee of the ACG. He has over 250 peer reviewed publications and abstracts.
Dr. Pochapin serves as Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at New York University Langone Medical Center. He is Shultz-Leeds Professor of Gastroenterology. Previously, Dr. Pochapin served as Chief of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He attained his medical degree from Cornell University is 1988, his GI fellowship from Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in 1991 and was Chief Resident at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical College in 1994. Dr. Pochapin has received numerous awards, including the Elliot Hochstein Teaching Award for “the qualities of compassion, skill, and distinction as a physician and teacher” and the Humanism in Medicine Award in recognition of “compassion, sensitivity, respect, and cultural competence in the delivery of care to patients and their families.” His present research projects include the study of the prevention of colorectal polyps; early identification and staging of pancreatic cancer; and new innovative endoscopic technologies.
Dr. Cohen is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. In addition to his full-time clinical practice, he is actively involved in teaching, mentoring medical students and gastroenterology fellows, and in clinical research. He is the president of Research Associates of New York and serves on the Board of Digestive Disease Research Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to foster interest and provide training for young investigators with dual interests in clinical gastroenterology and research. Dr. Cohen chaired a tri-society Task Force on Endoscopic Sedation, has served on the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy “Practice Management”, “Audit”, “Budget and Finance”, and “Annual Scientific” committees and currently chairs the “Practice Management Committee” for the American College of Gastroenterology. His current research focuses on quality issues in colonoscopy practice.
